Malaysia has recorded its first two deaths due to the Covid-19 virus outbreak.

Health Minister Dr Adham Baba identified one victim as "Patient 178", age 34, who attended a religious event in Kuala Lumpur earlier this month.

This patient displayed symptoms on March 5 and was treated at a hospital in Johor Bahru. He was placed under intensive care on March 12.

Adham said there was no comorbidity factor in the death of "Patient 178".

"Comorbidity means other illnesses... He died purely due to Covid-19. No (other illnesses)," he added.

The other victim was identified as "Patient 358", which the Sarawak Health Department said was a pastor based in Kuching.

The Sarawak Health Department has declared the emergence of a new COVID-19 cluster in Sarawak, the Jalan Stadium Negeri cluster in the Kuching district.

The Sarawak Health Department also announced four new clusters involving two in Miri district and one each in Kanowit and Selangau.

The Sarawak Health Department has declared another new cluster in Kuching district involving a wedding ceremony in Kampung Binyu.

JPBN Sarawak said the Jalan Merpati cluster is a workplace cluster that has been detected at a shopping centre in Jalan Merpati, Miri.

The Sarawak Health Department will first have a discussion with those selected to undergo the clinical trial for the COVID-19 vaccine from China, before obtaining their consent.

A total of 92 new cases of animal bites were reported today, comprising 42 in Serian Division, three in Sri Aman, 35 in Kuching and 12 in Samarahan.
